It’s one thing to peep studio shots of Motorola’s Zante, the next evolutionary and yet unannounced step of the TMO Sidekick family. It’s another to see it in the wild. This model is a bit beat up, so it’s likely a prototype that’s been around the block. As before, the specs are strikingly similar to the Sidekick 3’s, with a ~2.4-inch screen, EDGE, 1.3MP cam, but with a sliding top instead of the flip.

Amidst all of this not-exactly-forthright price cutting going on with the Xbox 360, it looks like Microsoft has finally launched a more organized method of detailing and tracking the process of sending your faulty US-based Xbox 360 back in for repair. Reportedly, the new web portal allows American console owners to register their machine, attach a Windows Live ID, schedule a repair, and track the status of said mending. Additionally, users who register will supposedly receive a five dollar credit towards out-of-warranty repair service should they need it, but considering that the warranty was just extended to three full years, you should be covered for a good while yet.

While it may not be to everyone’s taste, this one-of-a-kind God of War PSP is certainly an impressive bit of console modding, boasting not just a spiffy paint job, but a few additions that dig into the PSP itself. Those include a red acrylic window on the rear of the unit that’ll let you see the UMD spinning, as well as some red LEDs that light up the PSP’s two shoulder buttons (head on over after the break for some more pics). Only the most die hard God of War fans need apply here though, as last we checked the bidding was around the $1,200 mark. On the upside, 15% of the final sale price will go to the Child’s Play charity, and you’ll also get that classy velvet-lined case to display your new prized possession in.

Alright kids, no more complaining that Canada gets all the good stuff. ‘Course, all of us North Americans still have a bone to pick with Japan and South Korea, but that’s another story for another day. Apparently, the crimson / black DS Lite that snuck up on us last week at Future Shop has made its way south to the US of A — or at least, it had. According to DSFanboy, GameStop had the specially colored bundle (which included Brain Age 2 but sadly omitted the carrying case) listed on it’s website for $149.99, but now it seems that the item has been yanked. Keep your eyes peeled Americans, it ought to pop back up in due time.

In the Microsoft Earnings statement last week, the Entertainment and Devices Division revealed that they had a loss of $1.16 billion thanks to flagging Xbox sales. Instead of shipping 1.8 million Xbox 360s like they did in the fourth quarter of 2006, they shipped 700,000, which is a dramatic fall-off this early into a console’s life cycle. What gives?

Martha Stewart has managed to bag a front cover appearance on Wired, a publication which somehow has convinced Martha to “geek out.” Translation: Martha baked a cake in the shape of a Wii, and wanted to show it off. Although this example may not be in the same league as our birthday cake competition — she ain’t winnin’ no Alienware with that thing — we’ll give Martha a respectable grade for her first effort: we wish her better luck next time with the “geeking out.”

Gamespot just nabbed a review with the Xbox 360 Messenger Kit. It’s essentially a QWERTY keyboard add-on for the 360’s controllers, offering better support for Xbox Live’s MSN Messenger update. Here are their impressions of the product, in brief.

The Palm Z Micro Plane is a lightweight flier controlled by infrared remote control. What’s really awesome is the plane’s bi-wing design and flaming paint job. Then there’s the remote’s tri-band functionality, allowing for three of the planes to fly in the same space, so you and your friends can trail one another under the dinner table and try to knock the planes out of the sky.
A clever gent who goes by the name SeventhSon (we hope in reference to the totally ripping Iron Maiden record Seventh Son of a Seventh Son) has discovered a method to alter both the DVD key and game region code on Microsoft’s Xbox 360, at least for the Hypervisor exploitable 4532 and 4548 kernels. If you’re not sure what that all means don’t feel bad, part of this hack involves desoldering your Xbox flash chip — something most of us aren’t getting around to anytime soon. However, for the tenacious and technologically handy, this opens up all kinds of diabolical possibilities like, um… playing UK games on your US Xbox.

Not much to go on here, unfortunately, but it looks like we could possibly be in store for yet another questionably useful Wiimote accessory, with this so-called Wii Handle recently turning up on Google Video. Apparently a “patent pending” device, this one boasts a button and trigger at the base that seem to control the buttons on the Wiimote itself, with a wrist strap also thoughtfully included to prevent any unfortunate accidents. While there’s no indication as to when or if it’ll actually be available, you can check it out in action in the video after the break.
