A change of color for water

tapsfaucet_light_3.jpg

This device from Think Geek, actually changes the color of the water coming out of the taps into the bath, is may sound rather funny, but there is a serious theme to this, one of the devices will turn the water red, should it reach a temperature above 89 digress, which is great thing for warning people about the how hot the bath is going to be.

The basic kit, makes the water appear blue, while the red/blue kit shows the water as blue and the red when it is hot, it is quite good safety feature for older and younger people.

Choose between two different Faucets.

Blue LED - Always streams BLUE LED’s
Blue/Red LED - Normally streams BLUE LED’s until the water temperature hits 89 degrees after which the LEDs turn RED!

Here’s what you get with either version:

Chamber with LEDs
Batteries pre-installed plus a set of spare batteries (uses G13-A style watch batteries)
Instruction Sheet
Two universal adaptors included. (Fits most standard faucets in USA. Not recommended for faucets outside of the USA.)
Dimensions: 2.25″ tall, 1.25″ diameter.

Prices start at $12.99 to $19.99.

The bike of the future

magic-wheel.jpg

Well maybe not, this could be the bike of the future or possibly the skate board. Because this Magic Wheel is sort of a cross between a hi tech skate board and a bike, but it is neither and that could be the problem with it.

This bike or unicycle could catch on with the young and the trendy, its black and red finish looks great and has that racing looked to it.

The magic wheel is ridden with one foot on the side pod bit, that acts like a foot plate, while your other foot pushes the magic wheel along, it is steered by a single wheel at the front, which looks a bit fragile and very similar to the ones that you see on a supermarket trolley.

Magic Wheel features:

Weight: 6.3 KG
Max Height: 29 inches
Wheel Dia: 26′ / 20mm
Rear direction wheel: 125mm x 25mm
Wheel used: Professional sports wheel
Frame: High quality reinforced ABS plastic
Color: Black & Red
90 days warranty, tool kit & user manual included
Rider Weight: Maximum 150 Kg

The price of the magic wheel is around $200

Sure, MyVu’s other LCD goggles for iPod weren’t stratospherically priced, but creeping under that magical $200 price point could encourage a few more folks to take a serious look at head mounted displays — or not. Unfortunately, even the MyVu solo still requires you to don those humiliating specs to enjoy the visuals, but this device does enable the attached iPod to power it if you’re not keen on picking up the optional eight-hour Li-ion battery pack. The glasses also tout built-in noise-canceling earbuds and are compatible with any of the iPods with video, and hey, for $199.95, they might be worth picking up for in-home (read: not in public) use, but we stress might.

Pentax will be announcing a pair of budget shooters later on today in the form of the Optio E40 and Option M40 slimster. The M40 is just another 8 megapixeler with 3x optical zoom lens and 2.5-inch LCD done up in a slim 0.7-inch slab. It offers face recognition, SD/SDHC expansion, VGA video at 30fps, and weaksauce digital shake reduction in an attempt to make the most of its ISO 3200 sensitivity. The E40 offers up a bit less only in chubby little chassis sure to fit the anxious hands of most first timers. Expect the M40 to ship in August for $200 list, while the E40 hits in September for about $150.

While the most recent LCDs to emerge from Samsung’s laboratories have been of the, um, gigantic variety, the firm’s latest duo caters to the desk dwellers rather than the AV junkies. The 20-inch SyncMaster CX2032GW/BW models and 22-inch SyncMaster CX2232GW/BWs each consist of a widescreen Magic Clear panel (no word on resolution, however), and are designed with an “elastomer material which enables users to adjust the angles in any way they feel comfortable with.” These aptly-nicknamed “Swan” displays should be available in Korea real soon, and while the 20-incher will demand ₩368,000 ($399), the slightly larger sibling will run you a modest ₩437,000 ($475).

It appears Microsoft’s co-founder is a big fan of things that sink. Obviously an avid Beatles fan, Allen’s latest toy is a fully functional 40-foot submarine (not to be confused with a $12 million Yello Sub, which would be an even worse investment). He’s now a member of a small, exclusive clique of ultra-rich underwater explorers; about 100 personal submarines are floating around our oceans. Hopefully it came with better drivers than Vista (zing!).

supreme-edition-darth-vader-costume-from-original-molds-really-wheezes1.jpg

The Supreme Edition Darth Vader Costume is the full package: you get a jumpsuit complete with fake leather pants and sleeves (though the codpiece is real leather), Darth’s signature cape, and all of his armor cast from the original Lucasfilm molds. Our favorite part: the suit has a custom apparatus to mimic Darth’s breathing. It can be toggled off if you want (but why would you?) And on top of that, it will only cost you $850 and comes with a cool freebie.

A free FX Lightsaber, according to the site. It looks like you’ll get your money’s worth, as the outfit is fashioned with cast iron, injection-molded pieces, ebony twill, real and faux leather, and even LEDs. Both standard and extra large sizes are available. This is really about as close as it gets to really being Vader. The only thing that’s missing is a built-in stereo playing the Imperial March.

medium_ooomswood.jpg

A decade ago, your average tree wanted to grow up to be a great novel. These days, trees are going high tech by offering their branches up as fodder to be transformed into USB flash drives. Oooms’ creatively named Wooden Memory Sticks are crafted from hand-picked wood from the forests of the Netherlands. Match one with your wooden PC for the full mountain man effect. They’re USB 2.0 compatible and range in size from 256MB to 2GB. $60-$110.

3newbelkinhubs.jpg

Belkin’s three new USB hub designs actually do something useful on top of hubbin’. From left to right, there’s the Swivel Hub and the Clip-On Hub, both with a planned price tag of $30, and then the Hub-To-Go at $50.

The Swivel Hub has 4-ports and, well, swivels, allowing you to position as you please. Looks handy in a tight space. The 2-port Clip-On will attach to any desk, bar, or surface you can get it around, as long as it’s thinner than 1.25 inches. Last up, the Hub-To-Go offers you seven additional ports, three of which you can take with you. Out in August, they aren’t up on the Belkin site yet, so keep an eye out—or the shelves, these sweet units should really stick out.
