Vogue and Technology - tips,reviews.

If you’re fairly confident that you’ve seen an iJacket from Zegna before, you’d be right, but the case-sensitive iJACKET is upping the ante by including Bluetooth along with Eleksen’s ElekTex smart fabric controls. Dubbed “communication clothing,” the coat will reportedly enable users to “use their cellphone and simultaneously listen to music on their iPod,” which is sure to result in quite a few incomprehensible conversations. Nevertheless, wearers will be able to mange both their handset and DAP through a “sleek control embedded in the jacket sleeve,” and you can even expect the music volume to decrease when you receive an incoming call. Of course, all these luxuries won’t come cheap (especially on a Zegna), but even we think “starting at $1,700″ is a bit extreme.

It’s been a hot minute since a flatbed scanner was able to impress, but Epson’s USB 2.0 Perfection V500 manages to do exactly that. Sporting a 6400dpi optical resolution and 48-bit color depth, the V500 steps it way up by also throwing in the firm’s ReadyScan LED technology, “which delivers fast scans and no warm-up time.” Furthermore, you can expect nonexistent wait times when flipping between reflective and film scanning, less power usage, and a LED that automatically “adjusts the color of the light source based on the type of original being scanned, using white light for positive film and blue light for negative film.” Not too shabby at all for $249.99, and for those needing an Automatic Document Feeder, the optional add-on will soon be available for $199.99.

Remember those old Bluetooth laser keyboards from a few years back that projected a laser image on the desk that you could type on? Celluon’s releasing a new version of that old device, but this time it’s connected over USB instead of Bluetooth. Still compatible with Windows Mobiles, Palm OS, BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows 2000/XP/Vista though. Of course, you’re still typing onto a desk without any kind of “give,” which means painful fingers just like the old version.

Just over a fortnight after the TabletKiosk’s Sahara i440D Slate PC began shipping out to interested buyers, the niche machine has now been reviewed and benchmarked for those still mulling a purchase. The folks over at TabletPCReview noted that this machine was a breeze to tote around, had a solid feel, sported a satisfactory (though not awe-inspiring) display, and performed sufficiently enough for those not looking to actually replace their (likely more robust) laptop. Additionally, the pen functionality was highly praised as was the respectable array of ports, but the amount of noise and heat that this bad boy emitted was a slight turn-off. Still, the Sahara i440D benchmarked well against similar alternatives, and while we wouldn’t recommend 3D gaming or motion picture rendering on it, it seems like a solid choice for those in the market. Check out a videoed extension of the review after the jump.

Just months after displaying Dahan T&S’ 120-inch multi-touch panel, the firm is now showing off its 42-inch widescreen LCD that incorporates the same technology. This living-room-friendly display contains “multi-dot recognition functions to control image size and direction by [using your] fingers,” meaning that a single press will translate into a left-click, while using two fingers will replicate a right-click. No word on resolution, price, or a release date just yet, but click on if you’re down with a couple more pics.

option-gt-express-hsupa.jpg

Option has already done quite a bit of bragging about its various HSUPA and HSDPA offerings, but it looks like the company now has one more cause to pat itself on the back, as its GlobeTrotter Express HSUPA card has netted the all-important FCC approval. According to the company, that makes it the first such card to do so, paving the way for it to be released in the U.S. Apart from the ExpressCard form factor, however, the card is pretty much in line with the company’s HSUPA USB adapter, with it boasting 7.2 Mbps download speeds and upload speeds approaching 2 Mbps, along with support for tri-band UMTS operation and compatibility with quad-band EDGE and GPRS. While there’s nothing to hold it back now, there unfortunately still doesn’t appear to be any word on a price or release date.

medium_ambient-devices-market-maven-1.jpg

The Ambient Devices Market Maven can pull DJIA, NASDAQ and S&P 500 data every 15 minutes, over FM sub bands, without service charges. Cool, if you’re not obsessively needing stock updates every minute. But then again, if you’re not, its kind of hard to justify the $125.

wibrain-b1.jpg

Ok, it’s ugly as sin (and pretty thick, to boot), but we have to give props to Wibrain’s new B1 UMPC. Besides coming equipped with a Via C7m CPU up to 1.6GHz, 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.1, a VGA camera, HSDPA, and a full QWERTY keyboard and trackpad, the thing’s going to sell for a mere 600 or 700k Korean Won (about $650 - $760 US) when it’s launched overseas this October.

medium_applecomputerlogo.jpg

If you’re a die-hard Apple buff and want the world to know it, place your bid for this massive original Apple Computer sign. This sign comes from the era of the manly rainbow-colored logo and has been hanging on an authorized Apple dealer’s store wall for years. The dealer is relocating and you can be the beneficiary if enormous Apple Computer memorabilia is your thing. You have five days to come up with the money; the current bid sits at $4,450 plus crating and shipping costs. Happy bidding!

UFO???————–NO!NO!NO!NO!

Is this green flying saucer plane the eco-friendly plane of the future? It’s a design from the CleanEra project, aimed at making air travel more economical (in the environmental sense) by using lighter materials and weird ass shapes. Their goal is to get the carbon usage down to less than 50% of current planes. Whether this is light on the Earth is yet to be seen, it looks like something the Green Lantern would fly in.
